Already Have a Driving School Website?
If you already have a WordPress website, moving to DSW should not mean throwing everything away and starting again without looking at what you already have.
DSW is being designed so that the new system can be installed alongside an existing WordPress website, allowing the new driving-school information and layout to be prepared and previewed before anything replaces the live site.
Your Existing Website Stays in Place While You Prepare DSW
The intention is to make migration controlled rather than disruptive.
Your current website can remain active while DSW is set up. You can add your driving-school information, review the new pages and check how the site looks before deciding to make the new DSW theme live.
The aim is to avoid the common situation where an existing site has to be dismantled before the replacement is ready.
What Can Be Kept?
Every WordPress website is different, but useful existing material does not automatically have to be discarded.
Existing Pages
Useful page content can be reviewed and mapped to the appropriate parts of the new DSW website rather than being deleted without consideration.
Photographs and Media
Existing images in your WordPress media library can remain available and may be reused where appropriate.
Driving Advice and News
Existing WordPress posts can remain on the site, allowing useful driving advice or news content to continue alongside the new DSW pages.
Existing URLs Matter
If your existing website already appears in search engines or has links pointing to particular pages, those URLs may have value.
Moving to DSW should therefore be planned rather than simply replacing every page address.
Where practical, useful existing URLs can be retained. Where a page genuinely needs to move, an appropriate redirect can be considered.
No Automatic Deletion
DSW is being designed around a cautious migration process.
Existing pages and content should not be automatically deleted or overwritten simply because the new system has been installed.
How the Move Is Intended to Work
- Install DSW alongside the existing WordPress theme
- Review the existing website
- Enter or confirm your driving-school information
- Match useful existing content to the new DSW structure
- Preview the new website
- Check important pages, links and contact details
- Activate the new DSW website when ready
Not Every Website Is the Same
Some existing WordPress websites are straightforward, while others may use page builders, custom themes or older systems that store content in unusual ways.
DSW cannot realistically promise that every possible WordPress website can be converted automatically.
The objective is instead to preserve useful content where practical and provide a clear route from an existing driving-school website to the new DSW system.
Already a Driving School Websites Customer?
If your existing website is currently hosted by Driving School Websites, your current service continues as normal while the new DSW system is being developed.
There is no requirement to move immediately simply because DSW is being developed.
Existing customers can continue to access their account using the customer login.
Thinking About Moving From Another Provider?
You do not need to be an existing Driving School Websites customer to use DSW.
If your current driving-school website already runs on WordPress, the migration approach is intended to help you prepare the new site while retaining control of the content you already own.
Your Website Remains Portable
DSW is being developed using WordPress rather than as a closed website-builder service.
The intention is that your website and content remain part of a normal WordPress installation rather than being permanently tied to a particular hosting provider.
